Types of Boycotts

THEY SAY THE DEVIL’S IN the details. And that applies to boycotting as well.

Basically, there are two distinct types of boycotts:

  • those in which users, consumers, or members register their dissatisfaction through avoidance
  • those in which an individual or organization(s) takes a leadership position by mounting an active campaign against a product, service, company, or organization

Unfortunately, the active campaign type is often unsuccessful because organizers attack too many issues involving the target. This allows the Lamestream media (ABCNNBCBS) to dissuade potential supporters from joining the campaign by portraying organizers as zealots overreacting to a given situation.

After spending a considerable amount of time studying this problem, the Boycott Network has devised the “Focused Boycott”.

To fully understand the potential and ramifications of the “Silent” and “Focused” boycotts, the Network has prepared a very short White Paper on each.
