From Chuck Muth's News & Views:
In response to the United Way's decision to pull its funding for the Boy Scouts in South Florida because the Scouts refused to force its troop leaders to attend "sensitivity
training," the Scouts released the following statement:
"The Boy Scouts of America has been engaged in sensitivity training for over 90 years. Since 1910, every Boy Scout has promised in the Scout Law to be 'helpful, friendly, courteous and
kind' to others. The Scout Handbook also teaches boys to respect those whose beliefs may be different from their own.
"South Florida Council, BSA, conducts diversity training and Youth Protection Training for its entire staff and its volunteers. South Florida Council will not engage in lifestyle
training that is not in agreement with our understanding of the Scout Oath and Law. We will not give children in our program, or their parents, referrals to other agencies we are uncomfortable with. We believe that
issues of sexual orientation and sex education are not in the purview of our program and are best handled by parents."
From Chuck Muth: Something tells me this brouhaha is far from over. Why can't the adults just leave these kids alone?
